Cadet Shooting Team shock officers...

Officers were at a loss for words -especially excuses - on Saturday Feb 16 when the scores were tallied in their first .177 Air Rifle match against the newly established Cadet Shooting Team at Waterford..

Despite fielding a seven person team- one person short of the officers' team, the Cadets accumulated a total score of 2289 to comprehensively beat the adults' paltry 2259.

Sgt Nurse lived up to his billing of top gun to top score with 438, while SLt. Morris was top scorer for the Officers with 374.

Cadet Commandant, Lt Col Browne commented after the match, how impressed he has been with the progress made by the cadets in their short time in the unit.

Coach Best has final words with the cadet team before the contest commenced.

He also complimented Coach, Mr. Marlon Best on his excellent work so far and on the dedication and hard work put into the task. The Cadets were notably restrained in their victory, (some present felt that this was partly due to the fact that the Commandant was a part of the losing officers team, and that the cadets were wisely intent on maintaining their present rank and status.)
Coach Best praised the cadets for the effort and detailed the weekly improvements that was evident in their performances. He invited the officers to do some work on their skills and 'come again' whenever they felt up to it (meaning 'able to take some more licks...') This program, which is sponsored by the Barbados Olympic Association and the Barbados Rifle and Pistol Federation has been very successful and, according to Lt Col Browne, exceeds the level of progress that he had anticipated to date.

Officers attached to the program are Capt Maria Moore, OCdt D. Smith and OCdt King.

Capt Brathwaite certainly looks the part...but only pellets count. The cadets were cool and collected - and 'equipped' to the max.
Lt Alleyne and OCdt King experienced their first shooting competition  Capt Charles, Capt Moore and OCdt Smith during the competition
The Cadets did not seem at all surprised at their easy win ...while the Officers seem at a loss for words.
