EXERCISE FLAG POLE

Number 9 cadet Unit (Parkinson) seems to have executed a masterstroke in preparing for the upcoming electronic battles slated to commence March 10 using the new electronic weapons. On Saturday 3 Mar 07, the unit held an exercise in which three sections were challenged to identify locate and secure a location from attack from the other two sections

The EX involved a hike from Parkinson School to the actual exercise location near St George Sec School.

The unit was divided into three teams and the challenge was explained to the three team leaders during a briefing from Lt Hinds and Unit OC Officer Cadet Sam.

The goal was for each team to locate the target area first, and then to take up defensive positions to prevent the other teams from overrunning the location.

Multiple skills were put to the test, skills like leadership, teamwork, tactics and field craft.

Using section formations, camouflage,  crawls and other battle movements the teams went about the tasks while officers played the role of safety supervisors, judges, trainers and at the end -critics.

Most importantly of all everyone had great fun.

Starting next weekend, scenarios just like this will become commonplace as the new electronic guns are introduced to the cadets.

Congrats to number 9 for preparing themselves for the new challenges.

In photos above, Officers brief team leaders on the rules, objectives, safety rules, and operational limits.

In photo no 3, a team leader holds a briefing for her team while the various teams get ready for the action.

Hmmm, this sounds like cake, we will take this challenge like candy from a baby...

Some cadets even put on their 'war faces' to make sure that enemy forces did no think that they were 'making any sport...'

Cleaning your fingernails? you expecting hand to hand combat? actually the 'guns' used by the teams were in the form of pointed fingers - so this cadet must be cleaning his weapons.

(from next week cadets will be using state of the art electronic laser tag guns)

"We hiking all the way to St George Secondary School? I thought the new cadet bus was coming for us....'

Green training wear, camouflage paint, tall grass for cover.... and RED SHOES???!!?

This ambush team was attempting to utilize the tall grass for cover as they approached the target location

Mr. Hinds jokes with a cadet at the end of the exercise as they debate tactics used.

Excellent show by officers involved and the cadets from No 9.
