CADET BAND REBUILDING

On the march to Bridgetown

With another successful turnout at the 2010 Independence parade, the band of the Barbados Cadet Corps has capped yet another successful year of operations.

The main ongoing challenge for such specialized units has always been the annual loss of the best talent, as -just when those senior cadets are at the peak of their training - they graduate.

True to form, new juniors fill the breech and quickly develop their skills and discipline to maintain - and even improve the standards set by past generations.

Congratulations to the officers and cadets of the band for their excellent work during the year to keep the cadet flame burning.

Led by Lt Philip Eno, and assisted by Second -in Command 2Lt Marcella Holford, the band is made up of full time band cadets as well as a number of 'part-timers' who are regular cadets involved in normal cadet training, but who also train with the band on a part-time basis.

CUO Mia Doyle is currently the most senior cadet in the band and she is assisted by SSgt Forte C.

The band has been in training at the District A headquarters of the Royal Barbados Police Force Band and under the guidance of a number of instructors from the Police Band along with their own officers. Band members are also pursuing individual qualifications in music at all levels.

The  band is currently working to improve their repertoire as both a marching band and a concert band .
