CADET CORPS IMPRESSIVE AT INDEPENDENCE PARADE 2005 |
At the recent Independence Parade,
the Barbados Cadet Corps was represented by some 230 children and 50
adults. This was the largest group represented at this important national parade. No other youth group had anywhere near these numbers, or played a role close to the Corps. Cadets formed three armed detachments- carrying the heaviest and most uncomfortable weapons on the parade and the Cadet Band did the parade display at short notice. The Cadet Corps also provided the flag orderlies to perform duties for all flags on parade. The administration, logistics and planning needed to effect such a performance by school children of the Corps is indeed indicative of an organisation focused on excellence. When it is considered that the Corps is a voluntary organisation with extremely limited finances and not even a campsite of its own like most other youth organisations, this performance is even more impressive. |
