H.C. dominates as three Schools participate in exciting Drill Competition

With an exciting display of precision, skill, imagination and uniformity,  the Harrison College drill team retained their number one position at the 2005 National Sports Council annual Sportsmanship day event held at the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium on Saturday November 4 2005.

Outdoing a competitive Queens College team which also came with an innovative and obviously well rehearsed routine, the HC squad pulled out all the stops to ensure that the top prize money again found its way to Crumpton Street.

The Princess Margaret Team, making its debut at the competition, was first out and they gave a good performance of typical parade square drill routines. They were quite striking in their uniform of white shirt, dark shorts and Black and white socks.

Queens College stormed on to the floor in  a dark uniform with interesting peak caps and proceeded to put on a good show of co-orientated drill including a sequential eyes right that impressed the large vocal crowd of mostly school children (and mostly Springer Memorial at that).

But there was no doubt when HC marched on in two sections - including a "color party" with full 'armed' escort and the full works in terms of uniform design and wooden drill rifles. The performance was well put together, it was fun, and it was excellently executed - there were many high points.

The only regrets for the night was that so many other talented and innovative units of the Barbados Cadet Corps did not participate in the event.

Congratulations to the officers and cadets of Numbers 1, 16 and 21 units for the entertaining show.
