SIX CADETS who have
been responsible for moulding the future leaders of
tomorrow, have been recognised for their efforts.
Lieutenant Colonel of the Barbados Cadet Corps,
Trevor Brown has presented Major Dwight Lewis, Captain
John Morodore, Major Peter Powlett, Captain David
Clarke, Captain Randolph Charles and Captain George
Vaughn with long service awards.
The presentation ceremony was held during the Corps'
Service Awards Dinner at the Hilton Barbados last
Saturday night.
Lewis, according to a citation read by Margaret
Allman-Goddard, dedicated his life to ensuring that the
youth of St Vincent and Grenadines, especially those in
the Cadet Corps were useful and well-adjusted citizens.
Morodore was described in his citation as a dedicated
officer who approached his tasks with a great deal of
enthusiasm. He dedicated 21 years to the Cadet Corps.
Powlett, who has worked with the movement for 20
years was commended for his sense of personal pride in
meeting the challenges of today's youth and shaping
their character to produce honest, trustworthy and
upright citizens.
The spotlight then turned to Clarke, who for 20
years, according to the citation, was a loyal, dedicated
and committed officer who felt he had an obligation to
make a contribution to the Cadet Corps.
Charles stood up with a sense of pride as Allman-Goddard
read his citation.
The veteran cadet, with 20 years of experience under
his belt, has a "contribution to this country [that]
extends beyond cadets.
He is a life underwriter/financial advisor with a
leading insurance company".
Vaughn, also a 20-year veteran gained many
achievements in the movement over the years.
Lieutenant Naomi Williams paid tribute to the
awardees through song. She sang Call On Jesus, which
reminded those gathered that all things were possible
when you call on Jesus. (DG)
