COCKTAIL CHRISTMAS RECEPTION HELD AT OFFICERS MESS

Officers attached to the Barbados Cadet joined forced with regular officers of the BDF -along with their spouses- to celebrate the spirit of the season with a grand Cocktail Reception at the Officers Mess, St Ann's Fort on Saturday December 17.

Good numbers of officers of the Corps turned up for the function and indeed but for the conflicting Wedding reception of not one, but two officers of the Corps, even better attendance would have been seen.

Officers had a grand time, as they tend to do generally, and the attendance of a number of officers from regional Cadet Forces who were here on the Training Officers Conference added to the occasion.

Officers in their attractive mess kit listen to the welcome remarks from the PMC.

PMC Capt J Kellman coordinated proceedings on the Cadet Corps' end of things and the mess Committee presented a gift to Commandant Lt Col Browne as a token on the receipt of his national award. Maj Skeete was also presented with a token in appreciation of his longstanding and continuing contributions to cadeting across the region.

Excellent entertainment was provided by Colin Spencer and companion and Officers danced to the music of the DJ after the formalities.

Although the function represented an interesting change from the normal military dinner, officers generally indicated a preference for the Dinner and will probably look at a different format next Christmas.
