Central Recruiting ends With immediate effect, Cadet Headquarters has announced a number of changes to its recruit and junior cadet program. Expressing confidence in most units to effectively manage their own recruitment and induction training, Major Patrick Skeete, Cadet Executive Officer confirmed that the old Central Recruiting Program had been terminated. Under this program, all recruits were required to attend training at Harrison College on Saturday mornings. In the new scheme, ONLY those units that are unable to manage recruiting on their own will continue to use central recruiting on Saturdays at Harrison College. This change became necessary as a result of the large numbers of recruits existing at some schools and the challenge of dealing with the numbers of recruits on Saturdays. Recruiting will now be conducted at school during normal training sessions. < > |
Change to "Passing out" process There has also been a change in the concept of recruitment into the Barbados Cadet Corps. The whole process from joining as a recruit and becoming a Junior Cadet or Cadet should be NOT MORE than one month. During this time, recruits will be required to demonstrate that they are serious and committed to cadetting, and they must complete all required registration including parent/ guardian and Principal's consent. Insurance and Medical forms are also to be completed in this period. Only very basic training will be required at this stage. Training will commence in earnest upon registration as a Junior Cadet (if under age 13) or Cadet upon Registration - which now replaced the old concept of "passing out". These juniors will then complete a 'half star' training program which will cover all the areas previously done as recruits. Registration Ceremonies are to be managed on a Zone, Company or unit level with the inductees repeating the pledge in a short ceremony once the relevant information is submitted to Cadet Headquarters.. |
