Approximately 60 cadets from Units 3 and 12 camped at Combermere School, Waterford over the Heroes Day weekend (April 27-30, 2006). Camp Commandant, OCdt R L Evans reports that the Camp was a huge success, since the exercise achieved most, if not all of the objectives set. A Basic Fitness Test was conducted on Friday morning (April 28, 2006) under the guidance of Staff Sergeant Niles of the BDF. Training over the next 2 days focused on Skill At Arms and Field Craft for Star 1s – 3s, with the Star 4s being assigned roles as Instructors. Assistance was received from the Reserve Element of the BDF in the form of Sgt D. Knight, Pte Olton, L/Cpl Mayers and F/Pte Bennett, who acted as the Camp Medic and also assisted with training. Altogether it was an enjoyable and productive weekend. The Camp ended with a Concert on Saturday night before final dismissal on Sunday. |
