| The Intent |
For decades, The Barbados Cadet Corps has used military styled training to sharpen the personal discipline, character, self confidence, leadership skills and overall development of our cadets. Through this tapproach, we have been able to create conditions which allow us to fast track this kind of training, while being challenging and exciting enough to maintain the interest of our young people. Few other areas allow teenagers to hold serious leadership roles among their peers while relating with adults, teachers and other students. Advances in technology have now given us the ability to make our historic training much more realistic, challenging, measurable and (most importantly) FUN. This is why we have acquired the electronic weapons. We expect that training in areas such as leadership, Skill at Arms, Field Craft, Map and Compass and first aid etc will also allow us to place cadets in various well supervised training situations which develop leadership, self confidence and better prepare them for the challenges of life. |
