BCC OFFICERS TO ATTEND CADET INSTRUCTORS COURSES IN CANADA SELECTED

Six officers have been selected to attend the first series of training attachments with the Canadian Cadet Instructors School over the next few months. This is a new program of training which has been arranged by the Barbados Cadet Corps and our Canadian counterparts.

Under the current arrangements, a number of officers from Barbados will be attending training courses in various areas of cadet leadership and Cadet Force management annually.

Officers attending in 2006 are:

Lt Michael Boyce        - Captains qualification course

Lt Lincoln Springer     - Captains qualification course

Sub Lt Robert Morris   - Military Occupation (Sea)

2Lt Junior Ward           - Lt Qualification Course

OCDT Kahlil Greene     -  Lt qualification

OCDT Debra Marshall  - Junior Leadership

Canada has evolved a world class approach to the training of leaders for the cadet movement and the opportunity to learn from their experience will be valuable.

The intention is that most of our adult leaders would eventually have the opportunity to share this great experience and we expect that the Barbados Cadet Corps will be the overall beneficiary.

Plans are also in place for professional training teams from CCIS to conduct some courses here in Barbados so that larger numbers of our adult leaders would benefit in a short space of time from the experience.

The BCC is extremely grateful to CCIS, and in particular to LCol P.A McIntyre and LCol T.J McNeil, who have gone way beyond the call of duty to assist us in establishing this training arrangement.

We congratulate those officers who were selected to pioneer this scheme and we look forward to their success on their respective courses.

Lt M. Boyce

Sub Lt R Morris
