More than one hundred and thirty friends, fellow officers, admirers,
fans, cadets and well wishers gathered at the historic Main Guard on
Sunday January 8, 2006 to wish happy birthday to Major Patrick
Skeete, CEO of the Barbados Cadet Corps. Major Skeete celebrated his
fiftieth birthday on that day. In a moving and emotional ceremony, His wife Ertha; Former teacher, headmistress, friend and supporter Mrs. Dorian Pile and Cadet Commandant Lt Col T.T. Browne recalled these three aspects of Major Skeete's life. |
| Wife
Ertha described the true gentleman, and the loving and devoted
husband that she loves and respects. Mrs. Pile recalled a brilliant student, hard worker and committed Combermerian who excelled academically and developed a love for technology - particularly video cameras and computers. Col Browne spoke of Major Skeete's long and dedicated service to cadetting and of the high esteem with which he is held throughout the region. |

Capt John Kellman
was Master of Ceremonies and Lt Naomi Williams sang a special song
for the occasion. Maj Peter Powlett put on a brief video to recall the long military career of Major Skeete going back to 1970. But Patrick was most moved by a presentation by daughters Gemma and Janelle as they recalled growing up with daddy. Long time friend, (and fellow cadet) David Straughn gave the toast as he recalled his deep admiration and respect for Major Skeete. |
| It was a
great occasion, and the Barbados Cadet Corps joins with Major
Skeete's family and friends to wish him God's blessings and many
more years of health, happiness and continued dedication to one of
the great loves of his life - The youth of Barbados and the region.
On arrival at the Main Guard, Maj. Skeete greeted guests and mingled with friends and family including Mrs. Pile above and Daughters right. |
