![]() With a measure of pomp and ceremony, and in the presence of large numbers of dignitaries, guests, officers, parents, cadets, junior cadets and other friends of the Corps, Training Vessel BSC 001 was formally launch at Willoughby Fort on Jul 15, 2006. The formal program included remarks from Cadet Commandant Lt Col T. T. Browne, President of the Cadet Association Mr. Darcy Boyce, and representative of the Multinational women's' group Mrs. Sabga. Deputy Chief of Staff Cdr David Dowridge gave the main address. He congratulated the Corps on the growth and development it has seen, and encouraged the sea cadets to continue to aim for excellence. He emphasized that the Barbados Coast Guard was keen to continue its association with the SCU and indeed relied on the unit to produce future personnel for the Coast Guard. Both Mr Darcy Boyce and Mrs. Sabga expressed their support and commitment for the Cadet Corps and their satisfaction with recent developments in the Corps. SLt Morris was Master of Ceremonies and the blessings were conducted by the padre of the Cadet Corps. Lt Cdr Farley read the orders the order to Name and Launch the vessel for use. Ensign Snr. Grade Price gave the vote of thanks. After a brief delay with adjustments to the brand new engine, the vessel was taken on a trial run by a number of sea cadet teams.
